Conkers

This is a pile of conkers I found while walking in the park. I imagine the kids had probably collected as many as they could to create such a pile. Conkers are a nut of a horse chestnut tree and in the UK are a sign of Autumn. Kids have played with these on the end of a string, trying to smash the others conkers for generations.
