Plauge Cottage Door

In the village of Eyam during the 1600's the deadly bubonic plague hit. This small community imposed its own quarantine (before the word or concept was actually created) because they didn't know how the plague was being spread and didn't want to spread it to other villages around them. These people made a huge sacrifice as they themselves were at greater danger of contracting the illness by not leaving the town, with heart breaking stories of individual loss. I am happy for anyone to use this picture in their art and hope it inspires some great art.
